Tumblr really has ruined me. I was in a Rite-Aid and “out of touch” came on over the speakers, and I freaked out a bit because I thought I had missed my thursday morning meeting. It took me a minute before I remembered that Out of Touch playing does not always mean its thursday. sometimes people just play the song.
one time in my last job a woman came up to the register explaining that when she bought stuff a day prior the clerk forgot to scan a pair of socks worth less than €2 and it was only right for her to bring it back to the store and pay for it proper. unfortunately my manager was directly next to me at the time and took over the register to handle this serious issue. the receipt she had brought with her said which register performed the previous transaction that forgot the socks and the manager could find out who was running that till on that day. poor dude had a manager yell at him for a half hour about how much of an incompetent fuck up he was, he left the job immediately after but i couldnt tell you if he quit or was fired
i think about this moment a lot. the customer seemed like a sweet woman with only good intentions and when she paid for the socks she had a look on her face that said “i feel good because i did the right thing”. and a guy lost his job because of a pair of socks. if shit like this ever happens to you and a clerk forgets to scan an item just think of it as a small blessing or that you had good luck or something. keep it.
In Paper Mario: Color Splash, one particular sprite of the red Slurp Guy is extremely bizarre as it is saved as a graphic that is over 2500 pixels tall, consists of mostly empty space, and has the words “*mask_path” in the upper right corner. No other sprite in the game has unused empty space of this kind. Details in image.

Having some thoughts about like, how “women” playing with masculinity is only acceptable insofar as straight (cis) men find it sexually appealing and how the idea that transmascs (and butches) reaffirm patriarchy (by being “women” who emulate masculinity) is borne like, entirely out of people not talking to any genuinely masc women or non-passing trans men.
like legit, if you think masculine women aren’t seen as a threat to the patriarchy, then you’ve got your head so far up your own ass that you’ve come back up the throat again.
“no one is super offended or offput by transmascs, they aren’t viewed as sexual predators” steve dain was:
discouraged from being a tomboy by his counselor as a child (he was told he had “penis envy” and needed to “straighten out” or he’d become a lesbian)
accused of “violating God’s laws,” and called “thing” “creature” “it” after transitioning and returning to his job as a teacher
his transition literally “divided the town” he lived in
the superintendent fired him for “immoral conduct” and “unfitness”
said superintendent also publicly speculated about his genitalia, suggested that he would have to use his own bathroom because “would you want your little girl in the powder room with her?” and spread rumors that he had shown young girls his genitalia & molested them (likely, imo, what he means his “he talked about transitioning to some interested students and their parents got pissed” if there’s any truth at all)
also said “And I’m telling you, kids here just don’t understand this hanky panky of people going around chopping off their breasts” (fearmongering about top surgery from 1975!)
Steve won his wrongful termination suit, but the school board then accused him of misusing sick leave because he took time off to medically transition. He tried to fight this but after four years he could not afford the legal costs.
He was never able to return to teaching even after winning his lawsuit because no one would hire him, so he had to completely switch careers.
erasure is not a lack of hatred or violence towards transmascs. its a culture of silence around that violence. you cannot know how people see transmascs by only looking at how they treat us when they think we’re cis men.

The infantilization is their idea of “early intervention” and the ones they can’t “correct” will be given the same violent predator label as everyone else because they’re, so to speak, “too far gone”.
idk if anyone else has talked about this but a trans man wheelchair user, andrew blake-newton was shot with a pellet gun in a drive-by hate crime & called a “tranny faggot.” the injuries worsened his disability. i don’t know if there’s any ways to donate to him to help but i wanna make sure people hear about this. the link has a video of him & his husband talking about the hate crime.
